Josorat Sawmill, Ltd. was established 25 years
ago by my late father, Joseph Oratokhai, Sr. He was a civil engineer who worked
for the Nigeria Federal Government Works, Urban and Housing Development Ministry before retiring into the lumber business. Though nick named
"first sawmill" by the locals of Owan local government of Edo-state,
it was actually the second sawmill to be established in the area. The
first sawmill, however, was sold after the death of the original owner.
Mr. Oratokhai,
Sr. brought awareness of the wood
business to the Ora community, which created jobs for the community and respect for
the environment in which he operated his business. The community feels so much
attachment to our sawmill that when they come to visit us, they always say in
Ora language "Ogho myi ne hor na," meaning "This is
ours". We have come to owe a lot to the community for its support and
patronage.
After the death of my father in the year 2000,
I, Joseph Ohireime Oratokhai, Jr. and my two younger brothers, Christian and
Obokhai decided to take up the business where our father left off. With
the support and the dedication of the hard working crew of the mill, we have been
able to make great strides. Josorat Sawmill has moved from a national
wood supplier to a global wood exporter. Our wood is used in some of the largest
industrial wood companies in Europe, Asia and the Americas to make
finishing products for homes and offices the world over. We have achieved
all of this because we have historically operated with the utmost integrity.
We have continued to carry on our father's legacy of integrity and fairness,
while also developing new, even higher performance standards. As the head
of Josorat Sawmill, I am detail oriented and demand the same of my staff.

source, process and ship our customers some of the finest exotic hardwood and
softwood that Africa has to offer.
